Union Board brought comedian Sherrod Small to Tolliver Hall Feb. 12. Small, who is featured on Vh1's "Best Week Ever," cracked jokes about the presidential candidates, Britney Spears and other celebrities.

A crowd of students slowly gathered around the lined chairs located in front of the small stage Feb. 12 in Tolliver Hall as Union Board presented their first after-break performance, Sherrod Small, a comedian from Brooklyn who has appeared on shows such as VH1's "Best Week Ever."

Angela Carter, a junior marketing and merchandising major, said, "I've seen some of his clips online and he's pretty funny."

Finals are coming up so Small's performance gave students a break, Carter said.

Carter said as a member of UB, she did not expect so many students to attend the performance.

"We always hope for a big crowd, and tonight we have that," Carter said.

Drew Ford, a senior biomedical engineering major, said he enjoys the comedians UB brings to Tech.

"This is my senior year, and I've made it to almost every comedian they have had," he said.

Ford said overall he was expecting a good time and for the performance to take his mind off graduation.

"I'm hoping for a good laugh and something to make me not think about graduation just yet," he said.

As the crowd grew louder and more restless, the star of the show, Small, relaxed in the UB president's office.

Small said the reason he decided to come to Tech was to put on a good show for the students and get a paycheck.

"I'm expecting the check to clear," he joked.
"Then I want the students to have a good time."

Small said he has been making people laugh for 10 years.

Small says he got to this point in his career like any other artist.

"I started out in New York doing open mic nights and 'bringer' shows where you have to bring people in order to perform," he said.

After a short introduction, Small made his way to the stage to begin his performance.
He kept the audience entertained by poking fun at everything from the presidential elections to Britney Spears and other celebrities.

Carter said she felt Small made some good points during his act.
